Why Plenty Food International

More than 800 million people suffer from unnecessary chronic hunger. That is why Plenty Food supports plant-based food projects in developing countries. In our projects, helping people is not at the expense of nature and animal welfare.

Three reasons for the existence of Plenty Food

1. Food distribution and efficiency

More than 800 million people worldwide have insufficient food. This is in stark contrast to the increasing meat consumption of the Western world. For every kilo of meat, an average of 7 kilos of plant food (such as grain, corn or soy) is used. This is often food that could have been eaten directly by humans. That’s why Plenty Food doesn’t raise money for cows, goats, chickens or pigs, but for more efficient plant-based projects that can feed more mouths.

2. Environment and animals

Livestock farming is a major climate changer. Plenty Food therefore does not support projects with animals, but focuses on plant-based projects. Sustainability and balance are important. During food production, the natural balance must be monitored: we are thinking of the living environment as a whole and agriculture in particular.

3. Limited overhead

Plenty Food International is mainly run by volunteers. As a result, almost all the money raised goes to the ultimate goal: the people who need it. To achieve this, we work closely with local organizations. These have the local network and the specific knowledge required to make the projects a success.
