PLANTBASED DEVELOPMENT AID
Efficiency is very important to us. That is one of the reasons why we only offer plant-based development aid. And in this we are unique in the Netherlands.
Plant food aid is 5 to 10 times more efficient than animal food aid.
More than 800 million people worldwide have insufficient food. This is in stark contrast to the increasing meat consumption of the Western world. For every kilo of meat, an average of 7 kilos of plant food (including grain, corn and soy) is used. This is food that could have been eaten directly by humans. That’s why Plenty Food never raises money for cows or pigs, but only for more efficient plant-based projects that can feed more mouths.
From the same amount of land, 1 person can eat animal products, or 5 to 10 people can eat plant-based. See the illustration below.
OUR PROJECTS
PLENTY FRUIT FOR HAITI
At the beginning of 2018 we started a new Fruit Tree project in Haiti. Plenty Fruit for Haiti aims to plant approximately 2,000 fruit trees in proximity to 250 households each year, with an estimated impact on more than 1,000 beneficiaries.
PLENTY SEEDS FOR VEGAN VILLAGE UGANDA
Just like Plenty Food does in the Netherlands, Vegan Village Society actively campaigns about the benefits of veganism (such as organizing an annual Vegan festival) in Uganda. Bob Rumanzi, founder of Vegan Village Society, is truly an example to the community by innovatively working towards a sustainable future. With a world in crisis and increasing chronic malnutrition, he focuses on a different approach: agricultural education, guidance to women's groups and raising broad awareness about the benefits of compassion for non-human animals.
